Observations - Blessings

Life is a series of meeting many blessings in our path.
It all depends on our choices and free-will whether we accept them whole-heartedly (without asking questions) or let them walk away.

Observations - Desire and Happiness

I had a question on my mind about why happiness based on desire is short-lived and momentarily?
Yesterday, when I was meditating deep, the question got lost in it. But when I came back from the deep, an answer dawned upon me. Here it goes:-

What is Desire?
The answer said: It is the want which is based on any unit that is measurable. Meaning, anything which has a defined beginning and a defined end that measure is our want.
The desire is always between that beginning and that end. It always delves upon this measurement.

Then why the happiness is short lived when we achieve the Desire?
The answer said: Because, just like we base our desires on measurable units, the same way we base our happiness on our desires. I will be happy when my desire to get promoted is fulfilled. I will be really happy, when my desire to loose 5 kilo is achieved. But no, when the desire is achieved, there is another desire already building up. Or, the happiness is short lived as it also defined, measured.

So, what is the way to eternal happiness?
The answer said: Just as learning is eternal and is an ongoing process, so is happiness. Human being never tends to base their learning on something measurable. Mostly everyone understands that learning happen everyday with each and every step of life. The same goes with happiness. You can be happy anyway. It is ongoing and need not to be based upon goals, desires or greed.
Be happy right now, inside yourself and you will no longer be a slave of desire.

Deserve or Desire?

Today was day with a lot of new experiences in my life. I surprised myself with the kind of courage I never knew i possess.
But, by the end of the day, the courage, conversations and experiences (or learning) lead me to delve with one single question: What is more important? To accept what we Deserve, or to overlook the "Deserve" and choose the Desire?

As with anyone from my world will do, i too did some Google-ing on it. Here's what i found which resonates to my thinking. As I am really bad in putting what goes in my head into words, I will be using the excerpts from this website:
In Katha Upanishad Lord Yama tells little Nachiketa that Preya (Desire) and Shreya (Deserve) approaches a person at every step in life as split roads and he consciously or unconsciously chooses either Preya or Shreya.
Preya gives immediate pleasure, enjoyment, and satisfaction and usually provides what it promises. But the problem is that it does not and will not last long. Hence Preya lives only for the day or for the moment. Shreya, on the other hand may sometimes be horrid at the beginning but will be of great help at the end

Its been more than a year that I have been doing meditation and following Mahavtar Babaji.
I know and see that he mostly talks to me in the form of signs. I have complete faith in him and have left the most important decisions of my life onto him.
At every step of life, even if I don't like it at first, I have been shown signs or path by Babaji and I took them without questioning. Why? Because, that's what I Deserve, even though I don't Desire to walk on the paths or follow those signs.
Hmm... I wish more people can make out the difference and understand the signs and make the decision more consciously.

My Calling From The Universe

On 3rd September 2009, after reading "The Secret",  I wrote a list of 100 points (Yes!! 100!! - it took me 3 days to do that) for the man I sent a calling for in the universe.

Well, Universe is still busy searching for him. How - I have no idea.
I lost that list after 1 month of writing it and i totally forgot about it until yesterday. Yes, on 4th September 2011, i again found that list hidden inside some book/diary requiring dusting.

Well, as that list is something really close to my heart and finding it back was a pretty emotional affair, I have decided to help The Universe by posting some of those points here. Who knows, my list man sees it...
So, here it goes:

- He is sweet
- He is honest about his feelings
- he should love me inside out.. we call it seerat and surat in Hindi
- He have unconditional and irrevocable love for me (yes, i copied that from Twilight - so what, i couldn't have put that in better words)
- Respects me as a human being.
- Taller than me
- Loves exercising and staying fit.
- Don't smoke/Can quit smoking.
- Loves to go around different places (i learned later it is called wanderlust)
- Loves adventure trips
- Laughs often
- Believe in cleanliness
- Not a couch potato
- Understanding and need not often use words to speak
- Love Kids
- Compassionate for his family
- Loves to go out with me for everyday shopping
- Discuss his problem with me
- Bad in lying
- Not a suspicious freak
- Loves to dance
- Likes both Hindi & English entertainment e.g. music, movies, sitcoms
- Never forgets the child inside him
- Gives space to breathe
- Loves to eat and try new cuisines.
- Must be a complete music freak.
- Can write romantic poems for me, Romantic lines will also do. :-)
- Don't sulk on my belief on God, if he himself don't believe in HIM
- Likes to read novels (fiction/non-fiction)
- Have read Alchemist or The Fountainhead (or both) before meeting me. (Dunno why, but this is important for me)

So, I am just putting up 30 points here, and let's see how much faster my dear Universe can now be.
Never loses hope!! :)

A Poem by Pablo Neruda

My cousin, introduced me this name Pablo Neruda some two - three months back. She, just like me, is an admirer of good work (Espeically if it is romantic). As being progressing with a career in Literature, she came to know of Pablo first.
Though I was not able to honestly put in some time to read his work, I have to say, the name kept ringing in my mind again and again.
So today, when I had a little time in office to me, I read few poems of him. Mostly it is the "Songs of despair" which is a well-known work of Pablo.
But, I liked this poem a lot. A short sweet poem, full of emotions. Here it is:-

I do not love you except because I love you

I do not love you except because I love you;
I go from loving to not loving you,
From waiting to not waiting for you
My heart moves from cold to fire.

I love you only because it's you the one I love;
I hate you deeply, and hating you
Bend to you, and the measure of my changing love for you
Is that I do not see you but love you blindly.

Maybe January light will consume
My heart with its cruel
Ray, stealing my key to true calm.

In this part of the story I am the one who
Dies, the only one, and I will die of love because I love you,
Because I love you, Love, in fire and blood.

The Purest Expression of Truth

Janak asked:
"Oh lord, how does one attain wisdom? and how does liberation happen? and
how is nonattachment attained? please tell me this."

Ashtavakra replied:
"Oh beloved, if you want liberation then renounce the vishayas, the passions as visha, poison, and take forgiveness, innocence, compassion, contentment, and truth as nectar. you are neither earth, nor air, nor fire, nor water, nor ether. to attain liberation, know yourself as the witness, conscious of all these.

  • If you can separate yourself from the physical body, and rest in consciousness, then this very moment you will be happy, at peace, and free of bondage.
  • You are not a brahmin or other caste, you are not in any of the four stages of life, you are not perceived by the eyes or other senses. unattached and without form, you are the witness of the whole universe. know this and be
    happy.
  • Oh expansive one, religion and atheism, happiness and misery – all are of the mind, they are not for you. you are not the doer nor the enjoyer. you have always been liberated."

To Exploit Is to Be Exploited

As most of us seek power in one form or another, the hierarchical principle is established, the novice and the initiate, the pupil and the Master, and even among the Masters there are degrees of spiritual growth. Most of us love to exploit and be exploited, and this system offers the means, whether hidden or open. To exploit is to be exploited. The desire to use others for your psychological necessities makes for dependence, and when you depend you must hold, possess; and what you possess possesses you. Without dependence, subtle or gross, without possessing things, people, and ideas, you are empty, a thing of no importance. You want to be something, and to avoid the gnawing fear of being nothing you belong to this or that organization, to this or that ideology, to this church or that temple; so you are exploited, and you in your turn exploit.
